Dean Crandley
Growing up in a large Catholic family, and attending a Catholic Prep High School didn't come close to preparing Dean for a wife who would convert to Catholicism. He's been known to say "Having a convert for a wife first puts you through hell - then it sets you free!" Dean's photographic and extensive knowledge of History, both secular and Catholic, and his love of Latin, have helped many to visualize the beauty and richness of the Catholic faith. He never dreamed that raising and Home-Schooling children with his wife, Joyce, while she filled their house with others' children learning next to theirs, would prepare him to be Head of a Ministry - but here he is, living a fulfilling and wonderful dream. Just ask, and he'll stop what he's doing and say a Latin Rosary with you or for you. Go ahead, ask.
Joyce Crandley
Joyce grew up Presbyterian in New York, surrounded by pious European Catholics. Years later, as a new wife and mother, trying to find a faith compromise with her Cradle-Catholic husband, she suggested raising their family Lutheran. At a casual church event, the Lutheran Pastor, was verbally bashing Catholicism. Joyce asked him why. He doubled down his harsh comments. Joyce began researching the religion that surrounded her old life, and her new. What were non-Catholics afraid of? Once she found the truth - there was no turning back. Close to two decades later, filled with pursuing her education through pregnancies, her conversion, home-schooling, endless teaching, never-ending research, and prayer, has borne the fruit: Orchard Hill Catholic Learning Edge Ministry.
